Vice-President Richard McKaContact: rwmckay@olemiss.edu

Dear Students,

On behalf of the Associated Student Body Campus Senate, I want to welcome you to our website. We hope you find it convenient and user friendly. After a year of active work by all on the campus with the debate and other exciting events, we must keep this momentum going.  This year the Campus Senate will be more at your disposal with the suggestion boxes around campus and the availability of the faces of the said body with the broadcasting of the Senate on the Ole Miss Channel.  Please also make use of your senator's e-mails and the "contact us" box on the website that can also be used as a suggestion box.

As fellow students, we hope to continue to keep you in mind in all that the Campus Senate pursues. We do not just want to be the voice for the student government and their needs, but rather your elected voice. We are working hard to make sure that every voice is heard.  The Senate is currently working on a new piece of legislation that if accepted by the students could possibily change the face of the ASB forever.

As we plan for our fall semester full of change and new excitement, we all look forward to serving the campus in ways that may or may not have been tried before in order to cross new boundaries with students.  Find ways to get involved.  Come to a Senate meeting, watch Senate on tv, talk to your Senators, or better yet run for an open seat and become a senator.  Can't wait to see you in the union ballroom with us on Monday nights at seven.

Sincerely,
Richard W. McKay
Associated Student Body, Vice-President

Purpose
The Campus Senate is the legislative branch of the Associated Student Body.  The Vice President of the ASB presides over the Campus Senate, which is composed of no more than 100 members representing various factions of the student population. The Senate meets every Monday evening at 7 p.m. to debate and vote on legislation that has been formulated by its individual committees or by the Executive Branch of the ASB. The committees comprising the Campus Senate include Rules, Judiciary, Academic Affairs, Finance, Student Life, External Affairs, and  University Development. Senate elections are held at the beginning of the academic year and petitions may be obtained in the ASB office prior to the election. All meetings of the Campus Senate are open to the public and students are both welcomed and encouraged to attend.
